Languages & VoicesCopy link to this section
Floe's demo and website agents speak English and Hindi. A visitor can pick which one before they start, or switch during the conversation without losing it.
Those are the two languages available today. There is no setting that adds a third.
Turning on a second languageCopy link to this section
Demo Agent → Configure or Website Agent → Configure, in the Languages & voices card.
Each language has a checkbox, its own voice, and a preview button. One language is marked as the visitor default. A returning visitor keeps whatever they last chose; a new visitor whose browser is set to one of your enabled languages gets that one; everyone else gets the default.
Every site starts English-only. Until you enable Hindi, your visitors see no language control at all, because there is nothing to switch between.
One trade-off worth knowing: enabling a second language can slightly reduce speech-recognition accuracy for every visitor, including the English-only ones. If your audience is entirely English-speaking, leave the second language off.
VoicesCopy link to this section
Each language gets its own voice, chosen in the same card. Voices that can handle both languages are marked multilingual.
Set the voice here, not on the Persona card. The persona controls how the agent talks — tone, pacing, how it frames things — but the voice a live session actually uses comes from the Languages & voices card.
Use Preview to hear a voice before you commit to it.
What the visitor seesCopy link to this section
When two or more languages are enabled, a small globe control appears next to the agent — on the demo intro screen, in the demo sidebar, and in the website agent's chat header.
Before the session starts, switching is instant.
During a live session, switching keeps the conversation. The transcript, the context, and the connection all survive; the agent waits for a natural pause, changes voice and language, and carries on from where it was. The visitor sees "Switching…" for a moment. If a switch fails for any reason, the session rolls back to the language it was already speaking.
The one thing that resets is the suggested-reply chips, since they were written in the previous language.
Automatic switchingCopy link to this section
The agent also notices which language a visitor is speaking. A visitor who asks for the other language — "switch to Hindi", "हिंदी में बात करें" — gets it on that turn. A visitor who simply starts speaking it is switched once it is clear that is the language they want, not on a single borrowed word.
Automatic switching only ever selects a language you have enabled. A visitor speaking a language you have not enabled is answered in whatever language the session is already speaking — the agent does not switch to a language it cannot speak.
The onboarding agent is English-onlyCopy link to this section
The onboarding and support agents run in English. There is no language card on their Configure page, and the setting cannot be changed through the API.
If this blocks you, tell us — it's a product decision, not a technical limit.
PronunciationCopy link to this section
Product names are where voice agents embarrass you. "Floe" read as "flow-ee", an acronym spelled out when it should be spoken as a word.
Settings → Pronunciation lets you fix that. Add the written form and how it should be said, and the agent applies it to live speech.
Pronunciation rules currently apply to English sessions only. In a Hindi session the dictionary is not applied, so a name you have corrected will be read with default Hindi pronunciation.
The card can also suggest pronunciations for terms it finds in your product content, which is usually faster than typing them yourself.
FAQCopy link to this section
Does the agent detect a visitor's language automatically? Within the languages you have enabled, yes — see above. It will not detect and switch to a language you have not turned on, and the only options are English and Hindi.
Can I add French, Spanish, or German? Not today. The supported set is English and Hindi.
Does switching language restart the demo? No. The conversation, the transcript, and the browser session all continue.
Which agents support this? The demo agent and the website agent. Onboarding and support are English-only.
Can a visitor pick a voice? No. Visitors choose a language; you choose the voice for each language.
